Alfred Hoefler – Between Nature and Abstraction
Born 1958 in Seefeld/Tyrol, Austria – lives and works in the Dordogne, France
The Austrian artist Alfred Hoefler creates powerful and contemplative works that explore the relationship between humanity and nature. Deeply influenced by the elemental forces of earth, fire, water, air, wood, and metal, his paintings and sculptures embody a poetic dialogue between material and emotion.
Hoefler began drawing and painting as a child, translating the impressions of the Tyrolean mountain landscape into visual form. Over the years, he has developed a distinct artistic language that blends natural materials, textures, and colors with abstract, symbolic compositions. His art seeks to make the invisible visible—what he calls “soul images”—offering viewers an immersive, emotional experience.
Working from his studio and permaculture retreat in the Dordogne, Hoefler combines craftsmanship, ecology, and spirituality in a holistic creative process. His recent works focus on large-scale canvases and sculptures that capture the rhythm, energy, and balance found in nature.
In 2025, Hoefler’s works will be presented internationally, including at the Affordable Art Fair NYC (September 17–21, represented by @gallery_wald) and the LA Art Show – Modern + Contemporary (Los Angeles, February 19–23). Previous exhibitions include the Stadtgalerie dia:log Kufstein (Austria, 2024), the Seoul Art Show (South Korea, 2024), and Wind of Change (France, 2023).
Through his art, Alfred Hoefler invites viewers into a meditative encounter—where the boundaries between art, nature, and perception dissolve, and where emotion becomes form.
